On the day that he realizes, he is sixteen, and sixteen, for Remus Lupin, means too tall and too quiet and too much time in the library and too much time in Sirius Black’s shadow. Sixteen is the sudden, uncomfortable knowledge of desire, suddenly awoken. It’s no longer curled, sleeping, as desire should be, it’s a steady pull in the pit of his stomach, like desperation or the fierce, primal need of an animal, like touching fire or holding an unread book.

Sixteen is about realizing, suddenly and irrevocably, that he is in love with Sirius Black.  (x)
